A Few Photos

Hi Parents, here are some photos from some recent and somewhat recent events and activities in class and at the school.

Twin Day

Learning how to curl with the 'Rocks and Rings' Program

Sorting our shapes with Venn diagrams (grade 1's were encouraged to choose colour, size or other non-geometric properties and Gr.2's to use geometric properties)

Making Christmas tags for The Mission. One side has a Christmas message and the other, a Christmas joke. We then tied them with a ribbon to a candy cane to be given to The Mission. This activity was done with the other Grade 2 classes as well, but our Grade Ones were keen to join in.

Making cookies with our Grade 5 buddies.

Baking buddies.

Spirit Week

Last day of school before Christmas Break. We gathered in the gym to sing Christmas songs together in the morning.

We had a visitor!  Rumour has it, he has been spotted popping his head into the Gr.6 classroom a few times this year:)

Grade 1 and Grade 2 Songs for Christmas Pageant

Hi Parents, here are the songs we are singing at the Christmas pageant next week. We have been practicing each day in class, but students may wish to do some practicing at home as well to feel completely comfortable.

Gr. 1 Song - Silent Night
Silent Night

Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia
Christ the Savior is Born
Christ the Savior is Born!

Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia
Christ the Savior is Born

Christ the Savior is Born!

Gr.2 Song - Joy To The World

Joy To The World

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
let every heart prepare Him room,
and heaven and nature sing,
and heaven and nature sing,
and heaven, and heaven, and nature sing.

Joy to the world, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
while fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
repeat the sounding joy,
repeat the sounding joy,
repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
and makes the nations prove
the glories of His righteousness,
and wonders of His love,
and wonders of His love,
and wonders, wonders, of His love.

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
let every heart prepare Him room,
and heaven and nature sing,
and heaven and nature sing,
and heaven, and heaven, and nature sing.

Class Photos

A few photos from the last 2 weeks.  Some from the Learning Commons where the students used the Lego creation table and bee bots. Our class' 'Thankful Tree' and some art and patterning activities and also our final race from Primary running club that I assist Mrs. Mac with (she's the founder and head coach). The Gr.1s are working on repeating patterns and our Gr.2s have moved on to growing and shrinking patterns and pattern rules. All are learning to describe their repeating shape, number and actions patterns with letters (ex.AB, AABB, AAB, etc.).

Class Photos-Terry Fox, Reading Buddies and Stations

Here are some photos from our our Reading Buddies that we do every Monday with Ms.Reavie's Gr.5 class, the Terry Fox Walk from today, along with our Friday stations and also, some of our beautiful works of art. Grade Ones worked on using warm colours, blending Primary colours (yellow and red) to create a secondary colour, orange. Using both vertical and horizontal lines and Primary colours, the Grade Twos created Piet Mondrian-style works of art.
